Fire Marshal: Damage too extensive to determine causes of Kanawha, Boone fires

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Fire Marshal’s Office released additional information Wednesday about fatal fires in the area.

A 76-year-old woman was killed in an afternoon blaze in the Mink Shoals area of Kanawha County. Investigators said there was too much damage to the house to determine a cause.

Fire also claimed the life of a 70-year-old woman Monday night at a house on Boone Avenue in Madison. The Fire Marshal’s Office said there were also too much damage there to determine what started the blaze.
