FestivALL Fall events get underway in Capital City this weekend

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — An art festival returns to the Capital City this weekend with a special fall lineup.

FestivALL Fall events are planned through Charleston from Thursday through Sunday.

“Just like summer, we have music, theater, dance, visual art. It kind of takes over downtown Charleston,” said Brittany Javins, executive director of FestivALL.

Javins discussed some of the events this week on “580 Live” with Charleston Mayor Danny Jones.

“If you’re a fan of our big Capitol Street Art Fair which takes over Capitol Street during the summer — the big event — this is a much smaller version of it where our artists are over at the Women’s Club of Charleston on the East End Saturday and Sunday. There are artists there of various genres like pottery, sculpture, wood working, bath and body, fine art,” she said.

The Charleston ballet has performances Friday and Saturday called “Classic Country and Rock and Roll.”

“They’re doing dances to the music of Senator Robert C. Byrd — some of his fiddle music, which is a realyl fun piece,” Javins said.

Hops and Heat is also worth checking out this fall season, she said.

“The have several chili vendors and a lot of craft beer over at the East End Bazaar from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, so you can grab lunch there, hop around to the Women’s Club for the Art Fair and then catch some of these other small events around town,” Javins said.

FestivALL Fall kicks off Thursday night with the Downtown ArtWalk, Art After Dark and Choir Now!
