FestivALL Fall announces 2017 lineup

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — FestivALL Fall returns to Charleston next month with city-wide events full of visual art, music, dance, theater and family fun.

The festival runs from Oct. 19-22. The lineup was announced during a Tuesday press conference at Taylor Books.

“It’s smaller, obviously, than what we do in summer, but it’s another taste of the arts that we try to sprinkle in throughout the year in Charleston,” said Brittany Javins, executive director of FestivALL.

An extra day was added on to this year’s schedule, spanning from Thursday to Sunday.

“We are adding on a local stand up comedy showcase,” Javins said. “We are a music, theater, dance and visual art, but we’ve really tried to expand into some other areas.”

The Downtown ArtWalk returns as the first event of the festival on Thursday, Oct. 19. Art-After-Dark will be held that night at the Clay Center. The comedy showcase is also scheduled for that same night.

Other events include the Charleston Ballet’s performance of “Classic, Country & Rock ‘N Roll” at the Charleston Civic Center, the West Virginia Symphony concerts at the Clay Center, the Harvest Art Fair, the Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza, NPR’s Mountain Stage that will feature West Virginia native and Tony Award winning actor Michael Cerveris as the guest host and much more.

“There’s a little something for everyone and there’s a lot of free events too,” Javins said.
