Equipment stolen from Big Chimney shop

BIG CHIMNEY, W.Va. – The Energy Corporation of America shop in Big Chimney was burglarized on Saturday, with $100,000 of equipment stolen.

The incident happened around 3:00 a.m.

According to Joe Farris, the corporation’s Appalachia South director, someone smashed a door and concrete wall of the shop. The person left to listen for an alarm, but later returned to enter the building. The garage door of the building was opened from the inside.

Stolen items included a red Ford F-550 truck, a 2011 Honda Rancher 420 four-wheeler, a 2010 CornPro trailer with a drop deck and a plasma cutter.

An E42 Bobcat compact excavator has been recovered.
