CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Police consider a man they believe involved in a Saturday morning shooting “armed and very dangerous.”
That’s how Charleston PD Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper described Dennis Keith Butler, AKA “30”, a Philadelphia resident who has recently been living in Charleston.
Butler allegedly shot Nakalia Russell, 19, of Charleston, in the back and pistol whipped her.
“They were arguing over a stolen car he was driving,” Cooper told 580 WCHS.
The incident happened at about 415 a.m. in the 500 block of Nancy Street on Charleston’s East End.
Russell’s injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening, Cooper said.
