Dunbar woman charged with DUI with child in car

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Dunbar woman was charged with DUI with a minor in the vehicle and possession of a controlled substance Friday.

South Charleston police say that Vestina Mcneely, 38, came off the Dunbar Toll Bridge Thursday night driving recklessly, turning east onto McCorkle Avenue. Police pulled Mcneely over and she exited the car before the officer could approach.

Her 7-year-old son was in the front seat, and officers say he was wearing no seatbelt. Police say they found two Xanex pills in Mcneely’s front pocket.

She was placed under arrest and transported to Thomas Memorial Hospital for a blood test.
