Doss sentenced to probation, community service

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston police officer will be on probation for one year and have to take part in community service in connection to a November guilty plea.

Stephen Doss pleaded guilty on Nov. 8 to failing to use his lights and sirens while responding to a call in January. Doss collided with the vehicle of 80-year-old Dora Clarke, who died five days after the crash.

Doss was traveling more than 70 miles per hour at the time.

Doss will also have to complete 10 days of community service with the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority as part of his sentence.
