CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Detroit teenager will spend 30 years in jail for robbing and shooting a woman in Belle last year.
Denario Montgomery, 16, pleaded guilty in April, a binding plea agreement. Montgomery had met Stephanie Scott in May 2017 to purchase a cell phone. Authorities said he showed her a gun and she gave him everything she had.
When Scott reached for her purse, which was containing a firearm, Montgomery shot her in the abdomen area and fled from the scene.
Scott suffered a permanent injury from the shooting.
