Deputies: Man in custody for shooting at mother

WEST SIDE, W.Va. — A Kanawha County man is behind bars accused of threatening to kill his mother. Deputies were called to Austin Drive early Thursday morning after getting a report of shots fired.

“A woman called 911 saying her son shot at her,” said Sgt. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department. “When deputies go on scene they arrested him.”

The suspect is David Fisher, 37, of Dry Branch, W.Va. The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. after Fisher had taken his mother to a hunting cabin in Lincoln County and they were on their way back to St. Albans.

“She was in the truck while he went into the cabin and then after that she believes he was high on some sort of drugs,” Humphreys explained.

Fisher’s behavior and driving became increasingly erratic as they headed back to St. Albans according to the victim who tells police at some point she was able to get out of the truck and refused to get back in.

“Eventually he came up to her, pointed a gun in her face, and told her to get back in the truck or he was going to shoot her,” Humphreys said. “She decided to just leave and he fired shots at her.”

The victim wasn’t hit by the gunfire and was physically uninjured, but remained emotionally shaken up as deputies took Fisher into custody. He’s jailed and facing charges of wanton endangerment and possibly more charges.
