DEP, DNR get lots of Christmas Trees

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — More than 1,000 Christmas Trees were collected by two state agencies at Capitol Market in Charleston Saturday.

The state Department of Environmental Protection and state Division of Natural Resources collected the donated trees that will be repurposed as fish habitat in lakes and rivers across West Virginia.

The donated trees will be used in Stonecoal Lake, Burnsville Lake, Big Ditch Lake and Tygart Lake.

The agencies collected about 500 trees last year. This year the final number was nearly double that.
