Dec. 26 record setting day in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Most of West Virginia had pleasant weather again Tuesday after what was a record-setting day Monday.

Temperatures made their way into the mid to upper 50’s Tuesday, nice, but nearly 20 degrees below what Monday produced.

The National Weather Service said high temperature records for Dec. 26 were broken in in Charleston, Huntington and Parkersburg.

The official reading was 73 degrees in Charleston which broke the 1942 high of 70. It was 74 in Huntington which exceeded the previous record of 69 set back in 1940. The 70-degree high in Parkersburg topped the 65-degree reading set in 2015.

Meteorologists at the weather service are forecasting colder temperatures for the end of the week.
