Dead body found in Jefferson strip club; arrest made

JEFFERSON, W.Va. — Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies have charged a man with murder after another man’s body was found dead in a strip club Friday night.

Scott Johnson Meador, 38, was taken into custody along U.S. Route 60 in Jefferson at about 10:30 p.m. after someone called 911 saying they saw a man covered in blood, walking with one shoe and heard him “muttering” that he had killed someone.

Authorities had minutes earlier been called to the Foxy Lady club in Jefferson where a man identified as Glen Alfredo Carpenter, Jr., was found dead. Carpenter was a victim of a violent incident, deputies said.

Meador is being held in the Southcentral Regional Jail without bail.
