Dates set for Kanawha County Fall Clean-Ups

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Kanawha County Commission approved last week the three dates for its Fall Clean-Ups.

The events will be held Sept. 15 in Sissonville, Sept. 29 in Cabin Creek and Oct. 20 in South Charleston.

According to Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper, the county spends $200,000 yearly to host clean-up events in the spring and fall.

“I am convinced that in this county, it has helped economic development and I know it has helped flood control,” he said.

Carper said people anticipate the clean-ups and usually bring items that cannot be placed in normal trash bins.

“I’ve seen canoes. I’ve seen boats. I’ve seen airplane wings,” he said. “It’s amazing what people have, and folks will start putting it aside knowing the clean-up is coming to their community.”

The Sissonville clean-up will take place near Tuppers Creek Road and Call Road, the Cabin Creek event will be held behind the Go-Mart and the South Charleston clean-up will be held at the intersection of C Street and 4th Avenue.
