Damage reported in Lincoln County flooding

HAMLIN, W.Va. — The area of state Route 3 between Griffithsville and Hamlin appeared to be the hardest hit from flooding late Monday night into early Tuesday morning.

“I noticed it was coming down as a normal thunderstorm but it just lasted for an extended amount of time,” Lincoln County OES Director Francis Holton said.

The area picked up more than three inches of rain causing flooding a fire department and ambulance garage in the Griffithsville area long with a building housing a post office.

Several stretches of Route 3 were closed Tuesday because of high water.
