Cross Lanes man pleads guilty to felony child abuse charge Monday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Cross Lanes man pleaded guilty Monday to a felony child abuse charge in a case in which he seriously injured his four-month-old son.

Joshua Steven Albany, 24, admitted in Kanawha County Circuit Court to child abuse causing serious bodily injury.

Albany was arrested last December, admitting to Kanawha County deputies that he got frustrated with the boy and shook him, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

The shaking caused brain bleeding and a fractured clavicle.

Sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 5. The charge faces a potential prison sentence of two to 10 years and a fine of up to $5,000.
