Cross Lanes apartment agrees to settlement in sexual harassment cases

The owner and former property manager of Perkins Parke Apartments in Cross Lanes has agreed to pay $120,000 in damages and civil penalties to settle a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment against three female tenants.

The complaint, filed in Nov. 2014, accused the apartment’s manager, Anthony James, and maintenance worker Christopher James of harassing women at the complex. The site manager, Kisha James also allegedly failed to take action when tenants complained.

The complaint accused the alleged offenders of entering residences without notice, coercion of unwelcome sex acts, making sexual comments and advances, unwanted touching and sexual acts and taking adverse action when advances were refused or reported.

Perkins will pay $110,000 to eleven victims of sexual harassment and $10,000 to the United States as a civil penalty.
