Crews work to control large brush fire near East Bank

EAST BANK, W.Va. — Kanawha County fire crews worked to control a large brush fire that started Monday in the East Bank area due to warm, dry conditions.

East Bank and Pratt fire crews on the scene said the fire affected anywhere from 10 to 20 acres. The blaze closed down state Route 61 while crews fought the fire.

About five homes were close to the fire, but there was no damage to them.

About 500 AEP customers in Kanawha County also experienced loss of power due to the fire.
