CPD make arrests in separate West Side crimes

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man wanted in connection with taking a money bag from NAPA Auto Parts on Charleston’s West Side turned himself in to police Friday, authorities said.

Rocky Pryor, 57, of Charleston, is charged with grand larceny, a felony, according to Charleston Police Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper.

“He walked into the employees only area of the garage at the NAPA store and he helped himself to a bank bag that had cash and bank notes,” Cooper said.

The bag had about $700 in it. Cooper said Pryor had some of the money when he turned himself in Friday morning.

Charleston police also have two men in custody in connection with a pistol whipping and robbery on West Side Hill Thursday afternoon.

Shalore Gore and Justin Conley are charged with robbery and malicious wounding, Cooper said.

“Police spotted them (after the beating and robbery). They ran away and police chased them on foot. There was a struggle. One of the suspects had a gun on him and it fell out during the struggle,” Cooper said.

Police recovered fentanyl from one of the men’s pockets. Cooper said police suspect drugs were behind the initial pistol whipping and robbery.
