Counties added to state of emergency

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin expanded his state of emergency declaration Tuesday afternoon following another round of flooding a few hours earlier.

Tomblin added Clay, Lincoln, Logan, Nicholas, Putnam and Roane counties to Braxton, Wood and Webster counties.

A state of emergency declaration “provides affected areas with state resources to assist in response. It does not restrict travel, require businesses to close,” according to the governor’s office.

Tomblin still has 29 counties under a state of preparedness declaration, which allows for state resources to be mobilized in advance of potential severe weather.
