Charleston’s Live on the Levee series rolls out 2019 lineup

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Music fans across the Kanawha Valley are ready to put on their dancing shoes following the lineup announcement of the 16th season of Live on the Levee in Charleston.

City officials rolling out the lineup of musicians and bands that will be performing every Friday night at Haddad Riverfront Park at 6:30 from May 24 to August 30.

The lineup, that starts with Santa Cruz and a fireworks show and ends with Fletcher’s Grove, features genres from rhythm and blues and country to bluegrass and rock.

Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin expressed her excitement for the first series under her administration.

She said she is looking forward to all the acts including a Tom Petty Tribute being produced by Charleston native John Inghram.

“I am just super grateful that Charleston has a great concert series like this,” Inghram said. “And that we have a government that helps put it on.”

The tribute to the late Petty is scheduled for July 5 and will feature William Matheny, The Sea The Sea and more.

Headlining attractions for the 2019 Live on the Levee season include Here Come the Mummies (June 21), The Verve Pipe (June 28), The Cleverlys (May 31), Dillon Carmichael (August 16) and 7 Bridges: The Ultimate Eagles Experience (August 9).

Moses Auto Group returns as the headline sponsor for the event. West Virginia Radio Corporation is the radio sponsor for the event.

The event has partnered with five non-profit organizations including Roark Sullivan Lifeway Center, YWCA’s Sojourners Shelter, Covenant House, the Religious Coalition for Community Renewals’ Samaritan Inn and Manna Meal.

Inghram said Charleston and the area just love the event and for good reason.

“You can bring your family to the event,” he said. “You can go have a good time as an adult and have some beverages. You can enjoy some great music and do some dancing right on the river.”
