Charleston’s 3rd annual restaurant week underway, providing exposure for small businesses

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — With Charleston’s 3rd annual Restaurant Week taking place through Saturday, the owner of Bluegrass Kitchen on the East End said it comes at a good time.

“In the middle of winter it can be a little slow, so we’re happy for anything that will bring us some extra business,” said Keeley Steele, also a Charleston councilwoman.

The event kicked off Monday and has over 20 restaurants and eateries around the Capital City participating.

“We’ll have live music tomorrow and on Saturday night,” said Steele. “Starlings Coffee and Provisions is giving a free glass of wine with every three course deal. Here at Bluegrass we’re running a bunch of different features. We’ve been busy since 5 o’clock this evening; it’s been great.”

Steele said the event served as great exposure for the city and for small businesses.

“Anything that helps our small businesses is good for the city of Charleston. I’m really a big proponent of that entrepreneurial spirit and would love to see our community embrace it even more,” she said. “Food is what we do. Anything that will help celebrate that we’re thrilled to be involved in.”

Other restaurants participating in this year’s Restaurant Week include Adelphia, Su Tei, Ichiban Pan Asian Restaurant, and Soho’s at Capitol Market.
