Charleston woman charged after car crashes into house

DUNBAR, W.Va. — A Charleston woman has been charged after allegedly crashing a car into a house near Dunbar.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, 61-year-old Stella Mangus drove a vehicle into a home in the 4200 block of Washington Street West on Wednesday.

A resident in the home was injured after a moving refrigerator struck her and forced her into a closet door.

After the wreck, Mangus allegedly waived down a black Ford traveling toward Cross Lanes. The driver told authorities Mangus wanted to see a doctor. The person was briefly detained.

Deputies said Mangus admitted to using heroin and she showed signs of impairment after the crash. Her driver’s license had been revoked after several incidents of driving under the influence. She also had capias warrants for her arrest for two previous DUI charges.

Mangus faces new charges of DUI causing injury, driving under the influence of drugs and leaving the scene of a crash causing injury.

The resident in the house suffered bruising, swelling and cuts to her head, wrist, chest and leg.
