Charleston police looking for woman accused of taking money from disabled

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston police are asking the public if they know the whereabouts of a woman accused of stealing money from adults with disabilities.

Tammy Rena Jordan, 52, allegedly asked a man for money to buy a soda at the Charleston Town Center Mall on May 18. The victim, Artie Taylor, is confined to a wheelchair and asked Jordan to access his wallet and retrieve the money herself. Police said Jordan took “a substantial amount” of money and fled toward the Transit Mall, a location she frequently visits.

Police said Jordan is suspected of committing a similar act against another person at the mall earlier this month. She has two active state warrants against her for petit larceny.

Anyone that knows Jordan’s location is asked to contact authorities.
