Charleston man sentenced to jail and reparations in arson case

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston man was sentenced to 15 years in jail Wednesday and ordered to pay $40,000 to his insurance company for first-degree arson.

Edward Perod, 34, set four fires in the basement of his and his wife Sandra’s Falcon Drive home and threatened suicide while they had sex.

He was previously sentenced to the jail sentence, but a separate hearing was held to determine how much he should have to pay in damages.

Perod was found not guilty of domestic violence charges he faced stemming from the incident.
