Charleston man sentenced in timeshare fraud scheme

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man was sentenced to more than three years in prison Wednesday after defrauding timeshare owners in the U.S. and Canada.

Charleston resident David Ball, 35, was also ordered to pay back more than $210,000 to his victims. Ball and another man, David Glynn, started a fake company called Mountain State Resales LLC and convinced timeshare owners to send them money to cover fees and expenses to sell their timeshares.

The pair would tell the owners that they had interested buyers. The company received over $80,000 from the owners.

Ball told invesitgators he made over $145,000 participating in a similar scheme in Florida. He was setenced to 37 months in prison by a U.S. district judge.

Glynn previously pleaded guilty to the scheme and was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
