Charleston man could spend rest of life in prison

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston man was sentenced Wednesday to what amounts to a life sentence for the sexual abuse of a young girl.

Henry Wayne Johnston, 54, received a sentence of 100 to 350 years behind bars from Kanawha County Circuit Judge Duke Bloom.

Johnston forced the now 11-year-old girl to perform sex acts on him in the basement of a home she shared with her mother for about three years, beginning when the child was eight.

Johnston was previously convicted of two counts of first-degree sexual assault, four counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust, and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
