Charleston Main Streets hires two program directors

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston Main Streets, the newly formed citywide organization, hired two program directors Thursday.

The two directors, one for each the East End and West Side Main Streets, will handle programmatic aspects for the organization under the supervision of Rick Cavender, the executive director of CMS.

Steven Romano will oversee the West Side district and James Yost will over see the East End.

Romano previously worked with the Charleston Area Alliance to implement an entrepreneurial support program that fosters the development of small business in the Kanawha Valley.

In a news release Cavender said: “Steven’s forward-thinking nature and experience with developing and managing community and economic development projects and initiatives will perfectly fit the entrepreneurial spirit and revitalization of the West Side business district and neighborhood.”

Yost was a Land Planner at E.L. Robinson Engineering, a top Engineering and Design Firm
in the region, where he worked on a variety of design projects.

Cavender told MetroNews last week those director roles are “key to move forward the initiatives that exist within this new organization.”

Romano and Yost will now work in collaboration with their respective boards of advisers to staff all their committees.

Official implementation of the merge is scheduled to be completed June 30th.
