Charleston election Saturday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. Mayor Danny Jones will be bidding for his fourth four-year term in office when voters go to the polls Saturday in the Capital City’s municipal election.

Jones, a Republican, is challenged by Democrat Paul Monroe and Independent Bill Carpenter.

Twenty ward council seats and six at-large council positions are up for grabs. Several of the races are contested.

The races for the at-large seats, which represent the entire city, are expected to be close as 10 candidates are running for the six positions.

Polls open at 6:30 Saturday morning and close at 7:30 Saturday night.
