Charleston CVB launches new blog to increase tourism

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Members of the Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau want to engage and inform the public about what the city has to offer through a new blog.

The monthly blog, that launched on the CVB’s website, features more in depth information about events and activities throughout Charleston.

“Our goal is to just extend our reach, get more people on our website and therefore get more people to visit Charleston,” said Alisa Bailey, CVB president.

Posts will be written by the CVB staff, members of the tourism industry, business owners and local writers, Bailey said.

The pieces will focus on people, businesses, restaurants, a behind the scene scoop on events, interviews with local musicians and artists, festivals and more.

“Companies that have blogs generate 55 percent more traffic to their website,” said Bailey of what inspired them to launch the blog. “It’s one of our strategies to get more people familiar with what’s going on in Charleston.”

Bailey said they also plan on posting more photos and videos to increase their website content. She said their monthly e-consumer newsletter and social media efforts will also benefit from the new blog.
