Cedar Grove man to face charges for alleged attempt to run over State Police trooper

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — A Kanawha County man who was shot Saturday after allegedly trying to run over a State Police trooper remained hospitalized a day later.

State Police said Patrick Hess, 25, of Cedar Grove, attempted to hit the trooper who approached the vehicle he was driving, said to be stolen, on Saturday morning around 11 a.m. near Quincy.

Reports indicated the trooper shot at Hess who then fled the scene.

Hess was arrested soon after that when the vehicle became stuck in a field near the Quincy Walmart.

The trooper was not hurt.
