Case involving Big Chimney man continued until late October

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A case involving a man accused of murdering his wife in September 2017 will be continued until Oct. 22.

Both sides in the trial of Randall Chapman said they are waiting for autopsy and toxicology report. Chapman’s attorney also said they are negotiating with the prosecutor.

Chapman, 47, of Big Chimney, is accused of murdering his wife, Shirlene Young, in September. He told authorities he woke up and discovered his wife’s body in the living room of their home.

According to investigators, someone shot Young in the back.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 11 at 9 a.m.
