Carjacking investigation continues

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies are making progress on a series of crimes involving a pair of carjackings that happened in the Cross Lanes area Sunday afternoon.

The man stole a car in Putnam County and then at around 2:30 p.m. committed the first carjacking followed a short time later by another carjacking, both in Cross Lanes, Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Brian Humphreys said.

“While he had one of those vehicles, before he abandoned it, he also burglarized a residence,” Humphreys said.

The man used a gun to threaten motorists.

“He pointed it (the gun) at people and made them get out of their cars. It’s obviously very serious series of crimes,” Humphreys said.

Deputies have interviewed a number of people and were making progress Monday afternoon.
