Capitol Complex security project halted while lawsuit is settled

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County judge ruled to halt work on the Capitol Complex’s security upgrade while a contractor sues over not being awarded the project.

The $3.4 million project will install a fence around the Governor’s Mansion and and convert two parking lots into a bus turnaround in front of the Culture Center.

Wiseman Construction was awarded the bid to do the work, but McClanahan Construction of Poca will try to prove it should have been awarded the project despite being the lowest of three bidders at $3 million.

McClanahan’s bid was disqualified because it could not complete the project in 120 days.
