CAMC board evaluates budget after 1st quarter

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston Area Medical Center is slightly off pace three months into the hospital system’s budget year.

“We’re a little bit behind on the year-to-date basis,” CAMC Chief Financial Officer Larry Hudson said following Wednesday’s CAMC Board of Trustees meeting.

Hudson said the differences should be able to made up in the next three months.

“We should be able to close the gap fairly easily during the next quarter,” Hudson predicted.

Admissions for March at CAMC’s three hospitals were similar to last year. Hudson said the bottom line was reasonable, “in line with budget.”

The board also honored several employees at Wednesday’s meeting along with viewing the Ken Burns documentary, ‘Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies.’ CAMC had a several-minute long segment in the film that aired on public television.
