Boone County man accused of sexually assaulting children

MADISON, W.Va. — A Boone County man faces charges after allegedly sexually assaulting children.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office arrested Donald Maxwell Steele Jr., of Coopertown, on Thursday afternoon. According to deputies, Steele committed acts on both male and female children between the ages of 5 to 8 years old. The case dates back to 2008, with abuse continuing through the spring of 2017.

If convicted on all current charges, Steele could face between 15 to 35 years in prison.

According to the department, the investigation is ongoing and more charges will be added.

“Evidence suggests there may be other children out there who have been abused that we are not aware of,” a statement said. “We want to ask for the public’s help in identifying any additional victims.”
