Big Chimney man caught after trying to flee arrest

CHARLESTON,W.Va.–A man was arrested Thursday after fleeing on foot toward the Elk River to resist arrest.

Big Chimney native William Nottingham was wanted for violating the terms of his home confinement by using heroin. The 32-year-old man was originallly serving the setence since October 2014 for grand larceny.

Nottingham was tracked by a Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office canine and an officer. They located him on the riverbank and took him into custody.

He is currently in the South Central Regional Jail awaiting a hearing.
