Bank robbery in Kanawha City

KANAWHA CITY, W.Va. — An investigation is underway after a man robbed a bank in Charleston Tuesday afternoon, Charleston police said.

The man showed a gun after walking into the BB&T branch at the intersection of MacCorkle Avenue and 38th Street in Kanawha City at a few minutes before 3 p.m.

Police said the suspect was a light-skinned black man who was wearing a black jacket with an attached hood covering his head, wearing blue jeans and carrying a black backpack. The man’s face was partially covered, police said.

The man told the clerk to give him all the money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash. The man headed east on MacCorkle Avenue after leaving the bank. Police said they would be checking neighborhood surveillance video.
