Alum Creek domestic dispute ends in murder

ALUM CREEK, W.Va. — A domestic dispute leads to a murder investigation in Kanawha County.

Kanawha County deputies were called to a home on Ballard Road in the Alum Creek community around 7 p.m. Sunday.  Deputies arrived to find James Belcher dead with a butcher knife in his neck just out the backdoor of the home.

“They made contact with the 911 caller, Amanda Belcher,” said Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Brian Humphreys. “She was inside and during the investigation Amanda told them she stabbed her husband during an argument.  She was placed under arrest for murder.”

A cause for the domestic fight is not known.  Mrs. Belcher remains in the South Central Regional Jail.
