Residents evacuated from Nitro assisted living facility after water line break

NITRO, W.Va. — Residents in 30 rooms at Nitro-based Village On Park assisted living facility had to be evacuated Saturday afternoon after a frozen pipe in a sprinkler system burst.

Nitro firefighters got the water off and helped evacuate the residents.

Facility officials said the residents were taken to a Charleston hotel where they will stay until repairs are completed.

Damage is extensive.
