HURRICANE, W.Va. — Residents of a popular street in Hurricane were surprised to notice a long line of police cars on their street early Wednesday morning.
The officers converged on the house in the 2900 block of Virginia Avenue around 6 a.m. According to Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards, the city’s police department was assisting the Parkersburg Police Department with an ongoing investigation.
Parkersburg Police Chief Matt Board tells MetroNews his city’s detective bureau received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children unit. Board said during the follow up investigation they were led to the home in Hurricane where a search warrant was executed and a number of items seized.
Board said the case is potentially tied to child pornography along with other possible crimes, but they are limited in what they can say about the case. So far nobody has been arrested or charged in the ongoing investigation.
