SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — One driver died and a second driver was seriously injured after a head-on crash Wednesday morning on Corridor G (U.S. Route 119) in South Charleston.

According to South Charleston police, a driver heading north near Childress Road at around 10 a.m. went across the median and slammed into a southbound vehicle causing it to overturn.

Police said one driver was pronounced dead a short time after the wreck while the other driver suffered serious injuries.

Photos from the scene show a passenger car with major front-end damage and a box truck, owned by Mullen Heating and Cooling, on its side.

The southbound lanes were closed for almost three hours. All lanes were reopened at shortly before 1 p.m.
