5 new Charleston police officers to be sworn in Friday at City Hall

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston Mayor Danny Jones and Police Chief Brent Webster will swear in five new police officers at City Hall on Friday.

The five officers will start their training this Monday at the West Virginia State Police Academy.

Once the officers have completed the 16-week paramilitary police academy, they will enter the Charleston Police Department Field Training Program where they will undergo additional training and observation throughout the year.

The swearing in ceremony will take place on the third floor of Charleston City Hall.

The officers being sworn in Friday are as follows:

Daniel Cart, 24-years-old, of Red House

Matthew Cooper, 19-years-old, of Cross Lanes

Zachary Cyrus, 24-years-old, of Cross Lanes

Darrin Daugherty, 25-years-old, of Charleston

Hunter Roberts, 27-years-old, of Summersville
