4-month-old baby who was allegedly shaken by father expected to live

CROSS LANES, W.Va. — A baby that was allegedly shaken by his father in Cross Lanes a few weeks ago is expected to survive.

The baby will live, said the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, but whether he suffered long-term injuries is unknown.

Joshua Steven Albany, 24, was charged with felony child abuse causing injury, after he allegedly shook his 4-month-old son, causing bleeding on the brain, on Dec. 20.

Police said Albany said he was frustrated by the child’s crying keeping him awake.

The baby suffered a broken left collarbone and slight bruising in the left rib area.

Albany faces 10 years in prison.
