3 homeless people arrested following break-ins

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Three homeless people were arrested for alleged break-ins Thursday in Charleston.

Melinda and Grayton McCormick were arrested after allegedly breaking into numerous vehicles in the South Hills area Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

According to Charleston Police Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper said Melinda McCormick had a couple of outstanding warrants against her prior to her arrest. She also had a chainsaw and jigsaw power tool at the time of her arrest.

The McCormicks listed their address as a homeless shelter.

Officers also learned Appalachian Power Park had been broken into Thursday morning and several thousand dollars of property was taken.

Josh Hanshaw, 34, was arrested. Detectives identified him because of other theft-related offenses.
