The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department has released more information about a fatal accident in eastern Kanawha County.
According to deputies Sharon Williams, 65, of Hansford, W.Va. died in the collision on U.S. Route 60 at Glasgow. The crash happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Law enforcement officers said Williams had pulled off the right side of the highway while travelling west for a brief period of time. She attempted to make a U-Turn onto the roadway to go east and was struck in the driver’s side door by an oncoming pickup truck.
The collision killed Williams instantly. A six-year old child in the vehicle had minor injuries. Two people in the pickup truck were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Deputies noted the child was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and not properly restrained in a booster seat in compliance with the law.
Deputies to not expect charges to be filed in connection with the fatal accident.
