KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. –The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office say they made an arrest in connection to multiple break-ins at a store in St. Albans in 2025.

David Douglas Steadman, 53, of Charleston was arrested and now is charged with grand larceny and entry of a building other than a dwelling.

According to officials, police responded to an alarm at the ParMar located at 459 MacCorkle Avenue on September 22, 2025, around 3:30 a.m. When deputies arrived at the store, the front door had been destroyed to make entry the business had been broken into. Police said that there were less than $1,000 worth of cigarettes stolen.

Officials were able to find surveillance video that captured a single suspect entering the store.

Another break-in occurred on December 26, 2025, when deputies were once again dispatched to the same ParMar for an alarm activation. Once again, the front had been destroyed, however this time two suspects were caught on tape. This time more than $1,000 worth of cigarettes, vapes and vape accessories were stolen.

The investigation revealed that Steadman as the suspect. Steadman was located and interviewed where he confessed to committing the crime multiple times.

He is being held at the South-Central Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
