GORDON, W.Va. — A man is in jail after he went on an alleged violent spree in Boone County.

Charles Douglas Loftis II, 49, of Huntington, has been charged with domestic assault, assault on a police officer, obstruction of an officer, attempting to commit arson, brandishing a deadly weapon and unlawful restraint.

The charges stem from a Sunday incident where deputies were dispatched to Chap Road in Gordon. According to court records, a victim locked themselves in a bathroom while Loftis was making threats.

Records show that Loftis damaged the home with a knife and doused it in kerosene while threatening to burn it down. While Loftis was threatening to burn the home, the victim was able to flee.

When deputies made entry into the home, they found Loftis “covered from head to toe in blood.” Records also say Loftis was screaming and swinging a metal pole and ignored verbal commands from deputies.

Deputies used a bean bag shotgun to get Loftis to comply. They say he was intoxicated and hallucinating.

Loftis was taken to the hospital and received treatment for self-inflicted knife wounds and bean bag rounds.

Loftis had an active warrant out of Cabell County.
