CHARLESTON, W.Va. –West Virginia state employees will be getting the full day off on Friday following New Year’s Day.

Governor Patrick Morrisey issued a proclamation Monday afternoon. The extra day is in addition to the half-day they get on Wednesday, December 31st and the full day on Thursday, January 1st.

“The dedication of our state employees is truly remarkable,” Morrisey said in a press release. “They work tirelessly year-round serving the people of West Virginia with professionalism and heart. I hope they are able to use this extended time off to ring in the New Year with their loved ones and enjoy a well-deserved break.”
