CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A longtime member of the Kanawha County Board of Education has announced her resignation.
Tracy White has been on the board since 2018. She was a two-term member.
White said in a post on Facebook the decision didn’t come lightly and wasn’t made in haste. She says her family needs her as it faces another storm.
White announced the resignation at a Local School Improvement Council meeting Tuesday night at Nitro High School.
White said she was originally going to announce at the end of the year that she wasn’t going to seek reelection in 2026 but she needs to step down now.
The other four members of the BOE will choose her replacement.
