NITRO, W.Va. — Boomtown Day, Nitro’s annual homecoming, is Saturday.

“Everyone in the city always looked forward to Boomtown Day and I enjoy catching up with friends from out of town,” Nitro Mayor Dave Casebolt said. “The event provides fun for everyone throughout the day.”

Things get started with the parade at 10 a.m.

“It will go from Pickens Road on Route 25, First Avenue, down to 19th Street,” Nitro spokesman Joe Stevens said.

Lots of vendors will be set up at Living Memorial Park, Stevens said.

“We have quite a few craft vendors and lot of information booths,” Stevens said. “One of the mainstays of the event is the Nitro Antique Car Club Show on 2nd Avenue,” Stevens said.

Stevens said there will be music throughout the day as two local bands, Barn Hollow Band, Analog Boy and to headline the day of fun and celebration will be East of Eden an Eagles cover band that will be performing from 4 pm to 6 pm. All the bands will be performing on the Living Memorial Stage.

Also beginning at 4:00 p.m., an Italian feast will be provided at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for $10.00 each. Proceeds will benefit the Nitro Mission Team.

“It’s the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Nitro Mission Team. You can go in and get your Italian festive meal or you can get it to go,” Stevens said.
